Dr. Horton grew up on a cattle ranch in northwest Texas.
She attended Texas Tech University where she was a member of both the polo and rodeo teams before transferring to Lubbock Christian University from which she graduated in 2002 with a degree in Animal Science. She later returned to school, attending Palo Alto College where she graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology in 2005.
Dr. Horton worked as a registered technician for a year or so prior to being recruited back to Palo Alto to serve as an instructor. In 2008, Dr. Horton fulfilled both a lifelong dream of attending veterinary school and her urge to travel when she started classes at St. Matthew's University on Grand Cayman B.W.I.
Dr. Horton's veterinary special interests include nutrition, behavior, Fear Free handling, dermatology, and integrated holistic care. She is currently completing extra training on fish medicine and exotic veterinary topics.
Dr. Horton has been a resident of Kendall County since 2011 when she moved into a home built by her grandfather, Sonny Nelson. She enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her husband and pets. Her great passion in life is her horses. She retrains thoroughbreds off the track and competes in equestrian sports.
